Hi there smart car owners, today on your 2017 smart fortwo, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmasters battery disconnect switch. There's five main components you'll need when flat towing your vehicle behind your motorhome. You'll need your base plate which is your connection point for your tow bar that is installed on your vehicle. You'll need your tow bar which is the connection between your vehicle and your motorhome. You'll also need your safety cables which is a supplemental connection in addition to your tow bar. You'll need your diode wiring which takes all the lighting signals from your motorhome, transfers it to the lights at the back of your vehicle, so that way everybody behind you knows your intentions when going down the road. more

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2015 Smart Fortwo, we're going to be taking a look at and explaining how to install the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with switch for towed vehicles with supplemental braking systems, part number RM-766.This is what our Battery Disconnect looks like when it's installed. What this is going to allow you to do, this is going to allow you to separate the power from your battery. What I mean by that is in some vehicles, when they're being flat towed, the key has to be in the on position to put it in tow mode. The key has to remain in the on position. Once the key is in the on position, all of your accessories stay on inside the vehicle.What this is going to allow you to do is to get your car in tow mode, and disconnect your battery by the push of a button. How it does that is the original terminal that is mounted to your positive side of your battery is going to come off. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2013 smart fortwo we're gonna be taking a look at, and showing you how to install, the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect, part number RM-766.Now, if you've ever towed a vehicle behind a motor home, then in some cases you had to disconnect the battery. Now, saving us the hustle and inconvenience from having to locate our battery and pull our cables off, we have the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect, and this is gonna allow us to tow our vehicle behind our RV without having to pull that cable. Now, this kit is for vehicles only that require that battery cable removal when being flat towed, and you can find that information in your owner's manual.Now the way it's gonna operate is, it's gonna be a switch operated system, and the switch is gonna connect to our solenoid, and the solenoid is gonna be connected to the battery. Now, the solenoid is pre-assembled for easy installation, and this kit's gonna work with most 12 volt systems.Now to show you how it works; as you can see, we have a key in the on position, and as you can see it's not doing anything, because that's because our vehicle is in tow mode right now. Now, if we come back to the switch and we put it in the drive mode, we can see that our accessories are gonna come on, and we can start our vehicle. And then whenever we're getting ready to tow our vehicle, we can turn it off, and if you watch the instrument cluster over here, as soon as I put it into tow mode it disconnects all power to the vehicle.Now, in our smart car the entire installation is gonna take place right here, on the passenger side. more
